Spring 09 Instruction Ends Wed., June 10: Grades Due the 15th
WAOL spring grades for ALL shared courses are due next Monday, June 15th, and need to be submitted no later than midnight or they do not get recorded and sent off to the students’ enrolling colleges.
Student access to their ANGEL or BB account and spring classrooms will be turned off on Wednesday, June 10th. If there are any grade changes that need to be made after June 15th they will need to be emailed directly to our office. We will then make the change in the WAOL Spring 09 database and send them off to the appropriate college.
Click here for instructions on Web Grading and here for assigning an Incomplete Grade in a WAOL course.
Any grade changes made after 6/15/2009 must be sent to: Monique Kovalenko (mkovalenko@sbctc.edu) and Brook Bane (bbane@sbctc.edu)

Reminder: WAOL ANGEL for Spring
Most classrooms supported by WAOL are moving to ANGEL for Spring 09. Here are a few reminders as the quarter begins:
- For non-shared courses, colleges now choose the dates. Students are given access to the classroom one week before instruction begins.
- For shared courses, the classroom open date is March 26, and instruction begins April 2
- Students will be directed to WAOL ANGEL from the WAOL web site http://www.waol.org
- WAOL has also created a Blackboard classroom for each class to which all students have been attached. We inserted into each class an announcement directing students to WAOL ANGEL.
- If the instructor intends to continue to teach in Blackboard for Spring quarter, the INSTRUCTOR must post a message in his/her ANGEL classroom to let students know they must go to Blackboard. We have information on how to do that on this page: http://waol.org/faculty_and_staff/angelSupport.aspx
- WAOL’s Blackboard contract ends June 30, so no one will be allowed to begin SUMMER 09 on WAOL Blackboard.
Logging in:
- The student user ID in ANGEL does not have the leading “waol.” To log into ANGEL, students type in their SID alone, no dashes or spaces. (Example: 123456789)
- The default password is the first five letters of the last name. All users are encouraged to change their passwords immediately on first logging in to WAOL ANGEL.
- All users should also check and correct their email address so they can use the fabulous feature in ANGEL—I Forgot My Password!
Here are some resources for your faculty and students:
- Technical support is available 24×7 for faculty and students here http://www.waol.org/general_info/help_desk.aspx
- The WAOL web site has a Week Zero for students to learn ANGEL http://www.waol.org/current_students/weekZero.aspx
- The WAOL web site also has resources for instructors: http://www.waol.org/faculty_and_staff/angelSupport.aspx
- Instructors who want personal assistance with ANGEL can work with
Boyoung Chae bchae@sbctc.edu
Jesse Sims jsims@lcc.ctc.edu
Please don’t hesitate to call the WAOL toll free number (888-580-9011) if we can help in this transition or if you have any feedback or suggestions.

August 13th last day of instruction for Summer08 Shared Courses
Wednesday August 13th, is the last day of instruction for all summer shared courses.
WAOL summer grades for ALL shared courses are due next Monday, August 18th. Grades not submitted by midnight August 18th do not get recorded and sent off to the students enrolling colleges.
Student access to BB and their summer classrooms will be turned off on Wednesday, August 20th. If there are any grade changes that need to be made after August 18th they will need to be emailed directly to our office. We will then make the change in the WAOL summer 08 database and send them off to the appropriate college.
Please follow these directions for submitting your summer 08 grades:
WAOL Web Grading –
Grades are collected from instructor rosters in their “MyWAOL” accounts, not Blackboard. Please follow these instructions or check out the link below to find information on submitting your grades for summer quarter 2008. (http://www.waol.org/faculty_and_staff/webGrading.aspx)
WAOL Web Grading will be used rather than Instructor Briefcase to assign grades to students enrolled in any shared courses. Grades may be entered up until Monday, August 18th, after which WAOL Web Grading will be turned off.
Assigning Grades Using WAOL Web Grading -
Access the grading roster for current class sections by clicking the “View Your Course Sections” link on your MyWAOL page. Assign student grades using the Web Grading form and then click the “Save Grades” button at the bottom of the page to save the grades. You may partially complete the grade assignment process and return to finish it at a later time. In order to assign a failing grade to a student, you must fill in the “Last Date of Attendance” field. This date must be formatted MM/DD/YYYY and must be a valid date to be accepted.
Any grade changes made after August 18th must be sent to: Monique Kovalenko (mkovalenko@sbctc.edu) and Brook Bane (bbane@sbctc.edu)
